Job Summary
Safely remove lodged or adjacent debris from incoming pallets and manually sort them by type and condition criteria, including color, manufacturer, and damage extent. Inspect pallets thoroughly while sorting to ensure quality standards are met and maintain a clean, orderly work area throughout the shift. Follow established guidelines for handling equipment and material to maintain safe working conditions and productivity rates. Cooperate with team members and management while adjusting to new assignments as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and lift for extended periods throughout the shift
- Capable of repeatedly lifting and moving pallets and materials, which may be heavy
- Requires good manual dexterity and tactile sensitivity for inspecting pallet condition
- Ability to hear and understand verbal instructions and safety alarms in a warehouse environment
- Excellent vision (including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus) for inspecting pallets and observing surroundings for safety
- Vision: Requires adequate near vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception to safely perform job duties, identify pallet defects, operate tools, read labels, and recognize workplace hazards
- Sense of Sound: Ability to hear horns, alarms, machinery, and verbal instructions in a potentially noisy warehouse environment
- Sense of Touch: Ability to use hands and fingers effectively to handle tools, fasteners, materials, and equipment with precision and control
- Ability to consistently wear required PPE, including steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, and gloves, throughout the workday
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills and ability to cooperate with colleagues and management
- Consistent and reliable attendance at work is an essential function of this job
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
- Experience in a fast-paced environment, with ability to meet production rates
