Job Summary
Operate baler machines and forklifts to collect, sort, and feed clothing, textiles, cardboard, and plastics into the hopper. Monitor controls to apply proper pressure for compacting materials into tight bales, then securely tie and label them before transporting to storage. Maintain equipment including trash compactors and janitorial tools, while organizing donated items and ensuring accurate documentation. Follow strict safety protocols to prevent accidents and maintain a clean, organized work environment. Collaborate with team members to achieve production targets and support recycling efforts.
Required Qualifications
- Must have the ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 70 lbs
- Must have the ability to frequently exert up to 25 lbs. of force
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be proficient in performing repetitive motions such as extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction
- Must be skilled in tasks involving seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands
- Must be capable of maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces
- Must possess clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more
- Must be able to work effectively in a noisy environment
- Must be able to work effectively in a bright environment
- Must have effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Must have a high degree of flexibility
- Must demonstrate regular and punctual attendance
- Must think and act ethically and honestly
- Must recognize one's own limitations, being open to learning from others
- Must be adaptable
