Job Summary
Lead the third shift team at the Clayton Distribution Center by coordinating workflow, overseeing daily operations, and managing multiple job classifications. Operate heavy equipment including sit-down forklifts, reach trucks, and order pickers while performing material handling tasks such as receiving, putting away, picking, packing, and shipping parts. Direct multifunctional meetings to track performance, investigate customer-reported defects, and manage expedited shipments with external carriers. Enforce safety policies, conduct daily equipment maintenance, and lead continuous improvement initiatives to meet Safety, Quality, Velocity, and Cost goals.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to read, write and conduct business in English
- Ability to work overtime when required
- Must be able to lift up to 49 pounds individually, or up to 70 pounds as a team lift
- Ability to work in an environment with frequently changing temperatures
- Ability to work at heights of up to 30 feet from the floor
- Ability to push/pull product weighing up to 50 pounds for intervals of 10-15 minutes
- Ability to climb on and off order picker, reach truck and/or sit-down forklifts multiple times per day
- Ability to walk, squat and bend over for intervals of 15-30 minutes
- Ability to stand up to 8+ hours per day on concrete floor
- Ability to climb up and down ladders of 6 feet with handrails
- Ability to work in an environment with noise levels averaging up to 85 dB per 8 hours
- Must be able to conduct daily maintenance and keep tracking safety logs on equipment
- Must be able to inspect working environment to promote safe work area
- Must be able to utilize personal protective equipment required or recommended for task at hand
- Must be able to speak up if safety concerns are encountered
- Must be able to provide appropriate escalation if needed
- Must be able to direct, lead, and perform basic warehousing activities such as receiving, putting away, picking, packing and shipping merchandise
- Must be able to maintain item and inventory management records
- Must be able to help minimize bottlenecks and delays and the resulting impact on operating costs
- Must be able to train and assist with problem solving related to the use of real-time inventory software
- Must be able to move materials where needed
- Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the underlying concepts and values of a service organization
- Must be able to seek help, as needed, in satisfying customers
- Must be able to identify key characteristics of effective customer service
- Must be able to cite examples of keeping the customer as the focal point of all team activity
- Must be able to determine how coaching can be applied to a situation to help others to improve their skills
- Must be able to observe skill practice
