Job Summary
Accurately pull, fill, pack, and set up orders for delivery or pickup, then organize and prioritize shipments for various carriers and job sites. Operate a forklift and/or pallet jack as needed, while assisting in shipping and receiving by unloading trucks, checking in merchandise, and matching purchase orders to sales orders. Load trucks safely, ensuring products arrive in good condition, and perform pre-trip inspections and reports for delivery vehicles. Maintain a clean and safe work area, follow established safety procedures, and assist in physical inventory counts to maintain accuracy. Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations, communicate effectively with supervisors and customers to coordinate logistics, and adhere to company policies while handling financial transactions. Requires a valid Class C driver's license, DOT physical card, and ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Must be capable of obtaining certification to operate power equipment
- Must have a valid DOT physical card or have the ability to obtain one
- Valid Class C driver's license
- Must have a thorough grasp on the DOT rules and regulations regarding driving hours of service
- No DUI or License suspensions in the last 5 years
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Capable of driving for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat to perform loading/unloading assignment(s)
- Must be able to read and interpret, in English, job related documents
- Possess good to excellent communication skills
- Fluency in English
- Operate a forklift and/or pallet jack as certified
- Operate a delivery truck to safely transport non-hazardous materials
- Perform pre-trip inspections and report any maintenance issues
- Check products for damage before loading and ensure goods are properly secured for transportation
- Assist in loading and unloading delivery vehicles
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, sales staff, coworkers, and customers to coordinate deliveries and pickups
- Adhere to company policies and procedures while handling financial transactions to ensure accurate and secure money collection
