Job Summary
Receive, organize, and inventory all costumes during load-in, then perform fittings, make alterations, and oversee pre-setting for each performance. Maintain, launder, and repair costume pieces daily while assisting the Props Supervisor as needed. Oversee load-out to ensure costumes are packed and event space is returned to the railroad appropriately. Advise the Stage Manager and Local Production Manager of any technical or artistic needs to maintain design integrity. Work with the production team during rehearsals to incorporate last-minute changes and ensure company safety policies are followed. Join the cast and crew of a one-of-a-kind performance on a moving train.
Required Qualifications
- Experience as a wardrobe supervisor and/or seamstress/tailor
- Sewing (hand stitching and machine) and general clothing repair and maintenance
- Good DIY, craft, and repair skills
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills
- Ability to work alongside the production staff as a team member in an ever-changing environment
- Ability to work independently with self-motivation and attention to detail as well as excellent organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate, recognize, and solve practical problems and resolve issues
- Effective oral and written communication
- Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams that can include seasonal employees and interns
- Able to stand for prolonged periods of time
- Able to stand and walk on uneven or unsteady surfaces aboard a moving train
- Time spent in and around active railroad yard
- Become familiar with company and railroad safety policies
