Job Summary
Transcribe physician's orders from patient charts to nursing records and medication sheets, prioritizing stat orders. Manage the nurse's station by answering calls, directing visitors, faxing reports, and maintaining stock inventory. Place lab and X-ray reports on charts, monitor patient leads for alarms, and notify staff of call lights or code situations. Add chart forms, update call lists for physicians and departments, and coordinate with the lab for time-sensitive draws. Greet patients and staff with courtesy while adhering to infection control, safety policies, and HIPAA privacy laws. Complete required Ward Clerk training and maintain proper uniform and ID badge at all times.
Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- Ability to pass pre-employment screenings
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
- Ability to pass the Washington State Patrol Background Check
- Ability to handle frequent interruptions and distractions
- Ability to prioritize and quickly return to emergent tasks when interrupted
- Completion of Ward Clerk training under the supervision of a currently employed clerk
- Ability to communicate and interact with patients of all ages
- Ability to adapt to varied age-specific patient populations
