Job Summary
Provide guests with an elegant dining experience by setting up and breaking down meals, arranging tableware, and relaying orders to the galley. Cater to culinary requests, acknowledge guests by name, and suggest courses and wines while ensuring all items are properly garnished before serving. Greet guests upon embarkation, serve afternoon teas, and support evening entertainment as needed. Work seven days per week for up to 28 weeks, standing for entire shifts and lifting up to 50 lbs in a vessel subject to constant motion. This introductory position offers a foundation for a hospitality career with travel, room, and board covered aboard U.S. river and coast ships.
Required Qualifications
- At least eighteen (18) years of age
- American citizen or Green Card holder
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without accommodation
- Pass pre-employment drug test (testing for Marijuana and other controlled substances)
- No consumption of alcohol
- Ability to live and satisfactorily perform job duties in an environment that is subject to constant motion
- Ability to work around 12 hours per day
- Ability to assist in the event of an on-board emergency by quickly climbing up a ladder, opening, and passing through a 20" diameter hatch
- Ability to stand for your entire shift
- Ability to frequently lift up to 20 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to frequently bend, squat and reach
- Ability to live and work on board a vessel for extended periods of time
- Ability to use stairs frequently
- Grooming standards compliance (limitations on visible tattoos and piercings)
