WABASHA COUNTY HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE WORKER

Job Summary
Perform highway maintenance and repair functions including snow and ice removal, inspection of roads, operation of equipment and vehicles, and basic facility and equipment maintenance. Safely operate a variety of equipment (tandem axle trucks, loaders, dozers, backhoes, mower tractors, motor-graders, rollers, broom tractors) and perform routine maintenance on equipment and buildings. Duties include snow/ice removal, brush removal, patching, crack sealing, mowing, culvert maintenance, and sign installations. Must be available for emergency response 24/7 and communicate problems to the supervisor. Holds/obtains CDL licenses as required and adheres to safety and testing requirements; ability to work in extreme temperatures and in various weather conditions. Reports to Maintenance Supervisor and County Engineer; capable of physical work and operating multiple pieces of equipment.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Two years experience in road maintenance and/or operating heavy equipment
- Class B Commercial Drivers license with the ability to attain a Class A CDL within six months’ time from start of employment
