Vulnerability Researcher - Consultant

Job Summary
Conduct vulnerability research and develop proof-of-concept demonstrators by analysing latest techniques, generating novel concepts, and rapidly prototyping solutions for niche applications. Design and implement demonstrators that address connections between software, hardware, and user interaction to protect against emerging threats. Analyse results, draw conclusions, and make recommendations for further research while collaborating with Project Leaders and mentorship from experienced colleagues. Manage time autonomously within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high-quality outcomes at pace for UK defence and national security clients.
Required Qualifications
- Hold a strong undergraduate degree in a relevant subject including (but not limited to) Maths, Physics, Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Demonstrate applied experience in vulnerability research.
- Be a fluent programmer in C, C++ or Python.
- Possess knowledge of how system software and hardware interact at a low-level, for example, at the operating system driver level.
- Bring an outside-the-box approach, creative problem-solving ability, independent mindset, and broad interest in developments across cyber security.
- Be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Possess the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within an expert team in a high-performing environment.
- You will need to be eligible for UK security clearance.

Desired Qualifications
- Experience in the UK Defence and Security sector.
- Experience of, or the skills required for, client-facing roles.
- Technical expertise in one or more of the following areas: Reverse engineering.
- Technical expertise in one or more of the following areas: Cyber-physical systems.
- Technical expertise in one or more of the following areas: Network and protocol analysis.
- Technical expertise in one or more of the following areas: Low-level programming on embedded systems or similar.
- Technical expertise in one or more of the following areas: Virtualisation and containerisation.
- Technical expertise in one or more of the following areas: Simulation, modelling and data analysis.
