Job Summary

Drive profitability, retention, and written premium goals for the department while making independent underwriting decisions within letter of authority. Lead a high-performing team through clear communication, delegation, and mentoring to refine their negotiation and risk management skills. Perform underwriting audits, evaluate portfolio performance based on profitability metrics, and attend due diligence reviews for new MGUs. Assist in developing annual business goals for assigned agents and manage reinsurance relationships across multiple business segments. Remain current with market trends to identify emerging threats and opportunities, collaborating with senior leadership on strategic planning. This senior leadership role operates within Crum & Forster's Accident & Health Specialty Business Unit, focusing on delivering tailored insurance solutions to niche markets including travel medical, retail, and occupational risk.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • 15+ years of underwriting experience
  • Experience managing other underwriters
  • Underwrite submissions of quotes that may be applicable to the travel, travel medical and blanket accident business segments
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Travel required, 25-30%

Desired Qualifications

  • Possesses underwriting and industry designations applicable to SBU
