VP Underwriting

VP Underwriting position leading Home Office Surety Underwriting for the National Engineering & Construction Group. Based in Whitehouse Station, NJ or Philadelphia, PA. Responsible for underwriting and managing a portfolio of large, complex national/international construction surety accounts, coordinating with field offices, co-surety partners, producers and customers. Core duties include assisting the Surety Director in achieving revenue targets, managing accounts through the dual underwriting process, creating account management plans, making independent underwriting decisions within authority, training and mentoring underwriters, promoting best practices, and traveling as needed to manage relationships. Leadership responsibilities encompass interviewing, hiring, training new employees, providing product/industry/pricing training, and representing Surety in internal and external forums. Focus on maintaining portfolio integrity, pricing adequacy, and exceptional service while fostering a diverse and collaborative work environment. Travel to support account relationships and underwriting activities is expected.
