Job Summary
Define and own Fastned's multi-year technology roadmap across software, hardware, and energy domains, ensuring alignment with business objectives and executive strategy. Lead end-to-end systems transformation, managing charging station architecture, EVSE selection, and grid integration while establishing the make-or-buy framework for product and engineering teams. Drive technology strategy for customer-facing platforms, payment systems, and internal IT ecosystems, embedding cybersecurity and data governance into architecture from day one. Manage energy sourcing strategy, price risk, and commercial performance for over €60 million of annual P&L, collaborating with finance to optimize procurement and invoice accuracy. Partner with the Executive Team to resolve cross-functional priorities and champion a culture of innovation using automation and AI tools.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years in technology leadership roles
- at least 3 to 5 years at VP or CTO level in a business where technology is a direct driver of competitive advantage
- A proven track record of leading end-to-end technology transformation at scale: from current-state audit to future-state delivery, with clear milestones, measurable outcomes, and strong vendor and partner management
- Experience defining and executing a multi-year technology roadmap aligned to business strategy
- Strong people leadership: you enable Directors to run their domains, build trust and followership, break functional silos, and drive a genuine bias to outcomes over outputs
- Commercial awareness and business acumen: you understand how technology decisions translate into unit economics, customer experience and competitive positioning
- The ability to engage credibly with the Executive Team and Board on technology strategy, translating complex trade-offs into clear strategic choices
- Strong grasp of software architecture, cloud infrastructure, and platform design, with enough depth to challenge engineering teams on substance and make credible build-vs-buy decisions
- Solid familiarity across software (SaaS, platforms, integrations), IT ecosystems and business systems, and hardware or IoT environments
- Familiarity with cybersecurity, data governance, and compliance frameworks, with a track record of embedding these into architecture from the start
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with smart grid technologies, charging protocols (such as OCPP), EMS or connected hardware environments is a strong advantage
- Experience in EV, energy, infrastructure, mobility or telecoms: industries where connected hardware, high uptime, and energy management are central
- Background leading both software product and hardware engineering organisations simultaneously
- Experience scaling technology across multiple European markets
