Job Summary
VP of Legal (Remote — United States) leads the entire legal function as sole in-house counsel, reporting to the CFO. Responsibilities include commercial contracts (MSAs, SOWs, data agreements, addenda), corporate governance (board resolutions, annual minutes, entity maintenance in US/AU/UK/MX), corporate transactions, IP/licenses (patents, trademarks, music rights, licensing strategy), international expansion (GDPR/privacy compliance, regulatory clearances), securities and capital management (ESOP, 409A, cap table), and managing outside counsel across 4+ jurisdictions. You will build policies and processes, write the playbook, and advise leadership on compliance, AI policy, and emerging regulatory issues. The ideal candidate thrives in breadth, is pragmatic, direct in communication, and capable of operating across AU, US, and European teams with high EQ.
Required Qualifications
- 8–12 years PQE
- time at top-tier law firm
- in-house at a growth-stage technology company
- commercial contract experience with enterprise customers
- cross-border legal experience US + AU/UK/LATAM
- outside counsel management
- fluency with technology and AI policy awareness
