Job Summary
VP of Finance to own the financial infrastructure of a PE-backed defense manufacturer. Lead finance and accounting, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, budgeting, forecasting, job costing, certified cost and pricing, and audits, while advising the executive team on capital allocation and investment decisions. Oversee cash flow forecasting, board and lender reporting, and development of strategic financial reports. Shape working capital strategy, capital expenditures, and ROI analyses; manage accounts receivable and minimize credit risk. Play a key role in strategic planning, benchmarking, and financial modeling to assess project risk and scalability. Lead the ongoing enhancement of an ERP/finance system and streamline close processes. Direct a small, experienced finance team in a fast-paced environment, ensuring accurate AP, cash disbursements, invoicing, payroll, and monthly closing across operating entities. Coordinate with auditors and banking partners and maintain strong internal controls and compliance posture. This role is positioned as a CFO-in-waiting, offering high visibility and opportunity for advancement toward CFO. Benefits and compensation include base salary in the 180k–210k range, performance-based bonus, equity participation, and standard health, retirement, and vacation offerings.
Required Qualifications
- US Citizenship required
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting roles
- Demonstrated background in defense manufacturing accounting, including hands-on knowledge of FAR, DFAR, and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
- Experience in multi-site manufacturing and financial statement consolidation
- Experience with percentage-of-completion accounting
- Proven ERP system experience, including implementation or significant process improvement within an ERP environment
- Strong financial analysis, modeling, and reporting capabilities
- Demonstrated ability to lead a small finance/accounting team
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across all levels of an organization
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and evolving business environment
