Job Summary
Own design performance metrics by taking direct accountability for usability and conversion rates across onboarding, KYC, and core journeys, reporting progress quarterly. Lead and scale a remote team of Product and UX/UI designers by managing headcount, setting output expectations, and removing single-person dependencies. Govern the Xapo Design System by tracking adoption across mobile, web, and backend features while holding engineering teams accountable. Operationalize user discovery by mandating a minimum cadence for usability testing and ensuring findings convert into backlog items. Partner across Product Groups to reduce friction in payments and wealth management flows, pressure-test designs before engineering handoff, and hold the quality bar post-launch against app-store benchmarks. Govern AI in design responsibly by partnering with security and engineering teams on approval frameworks.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years in design
- 4+ years at Director/VP level owning a design function inside a regulated digital bank, high-scale fintech, or crypto/web3 platform
- direct accountability for measurable UX outcomes
- Demonstrable history of moving specific product metrics (conversion, completion, NPS/CSAT, app store rating) through design changes, with the data to evidence it
- Deep, evidenced portfolio of native iOS and Android design shipped at scale, with strict platform compliance
- Proven experience building and governing a component-driven design system across multiple engineering teams, including adoption tracking
- Experience mapping and shipping multi-step, high-stakes flows — wealth management tools, real-time transaction tracking, security/KYC setups
- Comfortable defending design decisions to executives using telemetry, funnel data, and research, not just craft rationale
- Working knowledge of transaction states, card networks, and blockchain payment flows
- Bitcoin-native design experience
