Job Summary
VP of Delivery responsible for end-to-end customer experience of Akka’s high-reliability, managed-service platform. Owns onboarding, production operations, reliability, support, and the relationships that convert first deployment into long-term partnerships. Focus on delivering customer outcomes, maintaining SLOs, incident response, change management, and the operational rituals that keep regulated workloads compliant and up. Lead the delivery organization (customer engineers, TAMs, operations) and ensure alignment with Product/Engineering feedback. Demonstrate a customer-obsessed mindset, build scalable delivery capabilities, and drive evidence-based compliance across multiple regimes. Travel to customer sites is expected; role requires deep experience with regulated enterprises and multi-regime compliance, and familiarity with Kubernetes-based infrastructures and modern cloud ecosystems. We value a bias toward system-wide reliability, the ability to articulate risk and tradeoffs to customers, and the leadership to scale a delivery function in a growing, distributed environment.
Required Qualifications
- Has run a high-reliability managed service with real production workloads, on-call, and SLAs with teeth
- Background includes time as an SRE, platform engineer, or solutions architect
- Has led delivery, customer engineering, TAM, or managed-services orgs at a company selling to regulated enterprises (financial services, healthcare, public sector, critical infrastructure, or similar)
- Has worked across multiple compliance regimes that customers care about (SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, FedRAMP, DORA, EU AI Act, or equivalents)
- Has built and scaled a delivery organization through a stage transition (e.g., founder-led to multi-region)
- Experience with Kubernetes on all hyperscalers; GCP, AWS, Azure; Go, Java, Scala; Akka Libraries
- Nice to have: hands-on exposure to AI/agentic systems in production within the last ~18 months
- Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, or actor-model platforms
- Exposure to data residency / international transfer regimes (GDPR, UK GDPR, Schrems II)
- Travel: meaningful customer-site travel, especially in the first year
- Location: Remote – US, Canada, European-based
