Job Summary
VP of Commercial Operations leading the evaluation and delivery of mechanical scopes across HVAC, electrical, and controls for a fast-growing commercial contractor. Responsibilities include walking commercial properties to develop defensible scopes and proposals, acting as the technical authority in client meetings, building and managing a national sub-contractor bench, owning project delivery from contract through closeout, codifying operating infrastructure (SOPs, sub agreements, templates, QA), and contributing to business development through referrals and relationship-building. The role requires deep hands-on experience in commercial mechanical contracting (rooftop units, VRF/VRV, chillers, boilers, hydronics, BAS/BDAS), strong pre-construction and estimating capabilities, and the ability to manage multi-million-dollar projects. Preferred skills include experience with AI tools, modern estimating/takeoff platforms, and a builder mindset focused on scalable processes. A Florida driver’s license is required, with Florida CMC or equivalent license strongly preferred.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years in commercial mechanical contracting with hands-on installation and project ownership across HVAC systems and related disciplines
- Experience across varied commercial property types (multifamily, institutional housing, office, retail, industrial, hospitality, healthcare, education)
- Sub-contractor management experience across geographies
- Strong pre-construction and estimating capabilities
- Ability to walk an existing building, evaluate equipment age and condition, identify scope, and produce competitive numbers
- Florida driver's license with clean record
- Florida CMC or equivalent preferred
