Job Summary

As Vice President, Head of Business Unit Oncology at a global mid-sized CRO, you will hold full commercial responsibility for the Oncology business unit, driving growth, profitability, strategic direction, and operational performance. You will develop the business with a clear customer focus, strong delivery capability, and sound financial governance, reporting to the CEO and contributing to the overall leadership team. You will shape the commercial strategy, develop offerings, strengthen market position in oncology, identify new business opportunities, build strong customer relationships, and lead commercial dialogues, bids, and negotiations. You will manage P&L, budget, forecasting, and performance tracking, and you will lead and develop the Oncology team, fostering a culture of accountability, initiative, structure, collaboration, and business focus. You will drive change and organizational development in a Nordic, relatively flat, and relationship-driven culture. The ideal candidate has a minimum of ten years in pharma/CRO/biotech with proven commercial leadership, hands-on P&L responsibility, oncology therapeutic expertise, and experience with clinical trials in oncology; success in project-based CRO sales or client-side CRO collaboration is preferred; and a track record of delivering results in fast-paced, high-demand environments. Required Qualifications

  • At least ten years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, CRO, biotech or related sector with proven commercial leadership and P&L responsibility
  • Strong therapeutic understanding in oncology
  • Experience designing, leading, or working closely with clinical trials in oncology; regulatory, scientific, technical and clinical aspects of oncology trials understood
  • Experience with project-based selling in CRO environments or on the client side with close CRO collaboration
  • Ability to drive change, develop organizations, and deliver results in a fast-paced, highly coordinated environment
  • Entrepreneurial, driven, results-oriented leadership style; ability to inspire trust and provide direction
  • Nordic market experience or North European organization experience considered advantageous
  • Experience with both business development and operational excellence in a service-based, global CRO setting
  • Strong customer relationship management and negotiation skills
  • Ability to balance business acumen with organizational structure and delivery capability
