Job Summary
VP Engineering, Vertical Commerce Software at Clover (Fiserv) leads a 50+ person engineering organization to unify in-store POS hardware with online storefronts, driving omnichannel commerce platforms and cloud-native microservices capable of handling billions in transaction volume. The role emphasizes strategic technical roadmap, cross-functional leadership with Product/Design/Sales, Android-based POS software, hardware integration, and scaling of legacy systems into scalable cloud platforms. Key focus areas include omnichannel data synchronization, high-availability architectures, and delivering high-performance software for vertical features in restaurants, retail, and hospitality, with a strong emphasis on fintech/payments and PCI/EMVCo compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 15 years of progressive software engineering experience
- At least 7+ years in executive leadership (VP or Sr. Director)
- Deep knowledge of POS ecosystem, especially in Restaurant (FSR/QSR) and Food/beverages
- Experience scaling engineering teams and platforms through hyper-growth
- Hands-on management of agile software development and delivery
- Architectural vision and scalable software product/platform development
- Proficiency with Java, JavaScript, REACT, Spring, RESTful/JSON services
- Cloud architecture (AWS/GCP), microservices, high-concurrency distributed systems
- Android OS at scale, hardware-software interfacing
- Experience with PCI and EMVCo payment integrations
- Experience with KPI development, standards, and process optimization
- Experience with agentic AI frameworks (enhances POS/software)
- Education: BS/MS in CS/Engineering; MBA or leadership training a plus
