Job Summary
VP of Engineering to own both strategic and technical dimensions of the engineering organization. Lead the creation and execution of technology roadmaps, hire and mentor a high-performing senior engineering team, and serve as the primary technical partner to Product and leadership. You’ll be hands-on in architecture discussions, code reviews, and critical technical decisions, while also guiding multi-team coordination, risk and performance management, and scalable solution design. Collaborate with Product Management to translate product vision into actionable technical requirements, maintain high quality and performance, and drive continuous improvement. The role blends leadership and hands-on engineering, with responsibilities spanning technology leadership, engineering management, cross-functional collaboration, and stakeholder communication. Our stack includes React, TypeScript, Python, PostgreSQL, S3, Docker, ECS, Lambda, AWS, ClickHouse, and a focus on AI-native workflows. Remote opportunity in Vancouver, Canada, with eligibility to work in Canada required; potential for equity and joining a founding team shaping the company’s product vision and culture.
Required Qualifications
- 8–12+ years software engineering experience
- 3–5 years in a senior technical leadership role
- experience with backend/frontend languages and production-level code
- strong command of system architecture and distributed systems
- cloud-native infrastructure experience (AWS preferred)
- experience hiring, managing, and mentoring engineering teams
- ability to translate product vision into technical roadmaps
- ownership mentality and strong communication skills
- experience using AI tools in daily development workflows
