Job Summary
VP, Chief Medical Officer responsible for clinical performance improvement, patient safety/quality, and the coordinated oversight of hospital services including hospitalists and risk/quality initiatives. Leads clinical resource and outcomes management, clinical standardization, regulatory/ accreditation standards, physician contracts, and collaboration with Sentara Medical Group and Patient-Centered Medical Homes. Requires MD with Virginia license and board certification, substantial leadership experience in an acute-care hospital, and expertise in Lean/Six Sigma, risk management, and clinical informatics. The role supports strategy development, marketing and population health initiatives, and project leadership, including RCAs, within Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, VA.
Required Qualifications
- Medical Doctor (MD) license in Virginia
- Board certification in specialty
- Virginia medical license (state license)
- Leadership experience in acute care/inpatient hospital setting
- Knowledge of HIPAA, HCQIA, and HITECH Act
- Understanding of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies
- Experience in hospital operations, patient safety/quality, and clinical informatics
- Experience with physician contracts and recruiting
- Ability to lead clinical performance improvement and utilization management
- Executive-level communication and project leadership (RCAs)
