Job Summary
Oversee production legal for the company's programming slate from development through delivery, including prepublication review of copyright, trademark, privacy, and defamation issues. Structure, draft, review, and negotiate agreements while providing strategic counsel on regulatory, operational, and reputational risks. Counsel stakeholders on compliance, employment, labor, and safety matters, and partner on litigation strategy and crisis management. Mentor the Business and Legal Affairs team to foster collaboration and professional development. Monitor industry legal developments and advise on implications. Reports to the EVP in Stamford, Connecticut, with three days in-office weekly.
Required Qualifications
- 8–10+ years of progressive legal experience
- substantial experience in entertainment law
- significant in-house and/or outside counsel experience in television, documentary, or film production companies or networks
- Demonstrated leadership experience
- Juris Doctor
- membership in good standing with the Connecticut Bar
- the ability to register as In-House Counsel in Connecticut
- Juris Doctor, English major preferred
