Job Summary
Oversee business development and agency services programming, including technical and financial assistance initiatives to help Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprises secure government contracts and improve operations. Manage the Business Development and Agency Services Units, regularly improving efficiency and developing strategies. Coordinate with all State agencies on MWBE participation, oversee operations of assigned units related to marketing, outreach, certification, training, and reporting, and respond to inquiries from the public, MWBEs, and NYS agencies. Organize public events and training sessions, deliver remarks at conferences, and represent the Division on panels for business seminars and trade groups. Create evaluation metrics, conduct quarterly and annual evaluations to analyze initiatives, and host meetings to review metrics and elicit feedback. Requires a bachelor's degree in government, business, or public administration, eight years of relevant experience in community and economic development, and five years in a leadership role. Statewide travel is required.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in government, business, public administration, economics, or relevant field
- Eight (8) plus years of relevant experience with community and economic development issues and business finance
- Five (5) plus years' experience in a leadership role, which involved developing and/or implementing strategic plans, process and procedure improvements, and/or long-term sustainable efficiency measures
- Five (5) plus years of management experience
- Knowledge of MWBE/Affirmative Action and/or community economic development
- Knowledge of government, policy and program development
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Statewide travel
Desired Qualifications
- Graduate degree
- Experience in the field of executive level management and/or management consulting experience
- A J.D. or master's degree may substitute for two years of relevant experience
