Job Summary
Volunteer Firefighters respond to emergency calls including fire suppression, EMS, rescue, and other incidents, work alongside career personnel, participate in required training and drills, and may serve in operational or support roles based on training and departmental needs. They assist with safety education and community outreach, perform duties at the station, ensure equipment readiness, and may receive a stipend per pay policy for approved activities.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid Florida driver's license required
- Must successfully pass a background check, drug screening, and any required medical evaluation
- Certified firefighters must possess a Florida Firefighter Certificate of Compliance (for certified volunteers)
- Non-certified volunteers must complete required department training within one year of appointment
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Willingness to participate in required training, drills, and department activities
- Commitment to serving the community with professionalism and integrity
