Job Summary
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for designing, implementing, and scaling a comprehensive volunteer engagement strategy that advances the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago’s mission, strengthens community partnerships, and supports philanthropic growth. This role involves ensuring volunteers are meaningfully engaged, stewarded, and positioned as ambassadors. Key responsibilities include implementing a volunteer engagement framework, partnering with development teams for donor cultivation, and serving as the primary liaison for corporate volunteer groups. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree and possess 3–5+ years of relevant experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 3–5+ years experience in volunteer management, nonprofit development, or community engagement
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in CRM systems (Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, or similar)
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite products
- Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Ability to engage corporate partners and senior volunteers professionally
- Passion for YMCA mission and youth development
Additional Requirements
- Support the YMCA’s commitment to child abuse prevention by following all safety policies and procedures
- Complete all child abuse prevention training as required
