Job Summary
Coordinate and supervise the hospice volunteer program, including orientation, training, assignment of volunteers to service needs based on interests and skills, and recordkeeping. Recruit, interview, and select volunteers; monitor performance and ensure compliance with hospice policies. Plan and conduct volunteer support meetings, prepare service reports, and facilitate community awareness and support. Act as liaison between volunteers and the interdisciplinary group (IDG); participate in in-service programs and maintain relationships with program leaders. Requires ability to drive for agency-related travel and adherence to infection control policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a related field, preferred
- Volunteer activity, preferred
- Completes Hospice training program
- Ability to work independently
- make accurate, and at times, quick judgments
- Ability to respond appropriately to crisis outside of a hospital setting
- Acceptance of and adaptability to different social, racial, cultural and religious modes
- The ability to drive and/or have access to transportation for agency related travel (e.g. community partners, patients, etc.) is an essential function of the job
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, maintain automobile insurance coverage and have access to an automobile
