Volunteer Coordinator

Job Summary
Supervise all volunteer activity within the designated service area and assess patient needs to coordinate appropriate placements. Recruit, train, and retain Administrative, Direct Care, Vigil, and Bereavement volunteers while ensuring completion of health screening requirements. Facilitate orientation and annual training, maintain accurate records including visit documentation and monthly statistics, and serve as the liaison between volunteers and staff. Represent the volunteer program at interdisciplinary team meetings and participate in quality assessment activities. This role supports patients and families during their most critical moments within Gentiva's hospice care network.
Required Qualifications
- CPR certification
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation
- Current auto insurance
- Deep understanding of hospice philosophy
- Ability to build rapport with volunteers, staff, and community partners
- Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in public speaking and group facilitation
- Flexible, empathetic, and capable of working independently and collaboratively
- Competent in Microsoft Office
- Competent in other basic office equipment
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- At least four years of related experience
- Previous experience in healthcare
- Previous experience in hospice
- Previous experience in volunteer administration
