Volunteer Coordinator

Job Summary
Supervise all volunteer activity within the designated service area while maintaining compliance with the Medicare Hospice Conditions of Participation 5% volunteer requirement. Assess patient and family needs for volunteer services and coordinate appropriate placements for Administrative, Direct Care, Vigil, and Bereavement volunteers. Recruit, train, and retain volunteers by facilitating orientation and annual training, ensuring completion of health screening requirements such as TB tests. Serve as a liaison between volunteers and staff, representing the program at interdisciplinary team meetings and in the community. Maintain accurate volunteer records including visit documentation, evaluations, and monthly statistics while participating in quality assessment and performance improvement activities. Support volunteers with regular communication, mentoring, and backup coverage when needed. Assist with reviewing and updating volunteer policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- CPR certification
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation
- Current auto insurance
- Deep understanding of hospice philosophy
- Ability to build rapport with volunteers, staff, and community partners
- Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in public speaking and group facilitation
- Flexible, empathetic, and capable of working independently and collaboratively
- Competent in Microsoft Office
- Competent in other basic office equipment
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- At least four years of related experience
- Previous experience in healthcare
- Previous experience in hospice
- Previous experience in volunteer administration
