Job Summary
Manage the hospice volunteer program by recruiting, screening, and interviewing candidates to match them with appropriate roles. Provide comprehensive training on hospice philosophy and patient care, then supervise volunteers while coordinating assignments and schedules for adequate coverage. Develop policies, evaluate program effectiveness, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to address patient and family needs. Organize appreciation events to recognize volunteer contributions and foster a supportive environment. Maintain regular attendance and timeliness as designated by the department supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience in volunteer management or a hospice healthcare setting is preferred
- Strong interpersonal, communication and counseling skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse individuals and teams
- Ability to build rapport with families and caregivers through a compassionate and caring demeanor
- Capability to perform physical tasks such as bending, standing, walking, and climbing stairs for extended periods
- Visual acuity and dexterity for performing tasks such as reading documentation, materials, etc supporting the volunteer program
- May need to carry boxes or other office documentation supporting volunteer program
- Maintain regular attendance and timeliness as set forth within the work schedule designated by the department supervisor/manager
- Job requires accepting criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high-stress situations
