Job Summary
Volunteer Assistant Basketball Coach at Salem College: assist the Head Coach with planning and conducting practices, workouts, and training; provide technical instruction and skill development in assigned areas; assist with meet preparation, competition strategy, and athlete performance evaluation; recruit and retain qualified student-athletes aligned with the college's mission; support academic success and well-being of student-athletes; foster a positive team culture focusing on accountability and leadership; assist with travel planning, logistics, fundraising, camps, clinics, equipment management, and facility preparation; maintain compliance with NCAA Division III and Salem policies; assist with social media content, recruiting communications, and program promotion; drive a college-owned 15-passenger van to transport student-athletes as assigned; perform other duties as assigned by Head Coach and Director of Athletics.
Required Qualifications
- HS Diploma required
- previous playing and/or coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level preferred
- strong knowledge of fundamentals, strategies, and player development
- excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- commitment to supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion
