Job Summary
Provide respite, friendly visits, and essential services such as errands and light housekeeping to hospice patients and families in-home, at the Inpatient Unit, or in Long Term Care Facilities. Offer emotional support, companionship, and supportive listening while serving as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team. Assist the team by providing input to the plan of care and document volunteer time and visit activities accurately. Maintain open communication with the coordinator, participate in bereavement follow-ups, and adhere to all policies, health requirements, and mandatory annual education. Maintain confidentiality and assist in training new volunteers as appropriate.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to provide respite, friendly visits, or essential services such as errands, shopping, and light housekeeping
- Ability to offer emotional support, companionship, and supportive listening to patients and families
- Ability to serve as an integral member of the Hospice interdisciplinary team
- Ability to assist the team and provide input to the plan of care as appropriate
- Ability to document volunteer time and patient visit activity in an accurate, timely, and objective manner
- Ability to maintain open communication and report regularly to the volunteer coordinator
- Ability to participate in bereavement follow-up with families, as appropriate
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
- Ability to adhere to Rainbow Hospice policies and procedures
- Ability to complete the mandatory annual education
- Ability to meet all health requirements set by Rainbow Hospice
- Ability to participate in volunteer support and educational in-services
- Ability to assist in training of new volunteers, as appropriate
