Job Summary

Oversee recruitment, screening, selection, orientation, training, supervision, recognition, and retention for a high-volume individual volunteer program and a year-round internship program. Manage logistics for episodic, long-term, and special skilled positions to ensure adequate coverage while providing direct supervision to the Volunteer Services Associate, temporary employees, volunteers, and interns. Execute communication plans with volunteers and community members through in-person interactions, email, phone, and virtual meetings. Establish collaborative relationships with staff, guests, and stakeholders, and create experiential learning experiences through school partnerships and internship placements. This full-time, exempt position requires hybrid work with mandatory on-site days and occasional travel.

Required Qualifications

  • Superior written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate the mission and philosophy of Rosie's Place
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in nonprofit volunteer management
  • Strong commitment to social justice and the mission of Rosie's Place
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks with strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Flexibility and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative and busy department
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate the mission and philosophy of Rosie's Place
  • Strong customer service mindset with effective and diplomatic, yet supportive communication style
  • Demonstrated ability to welcome, train, motivate and manage a diversity of people from various backgrounds – both paid and unpaid
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment, think quickly in dynamic situations, and create a welcoming environment for everyone
  • Must work on-site at Rosie's Place during part of their work week
  • Must be flexible with their in-person days to participate in organization events and other work obligations
  • Must be up to date with their yearly vaccinations
