Job Summary

Manage performance and oversight for vocational teaching delivery across workshop-based sites at Hebdon Road, Normanby, and Berkley Business Centre. Lead, coach, and manage a team of qualified professionals while setting objectives, monitoring targets, and controlling resource planning and budgets. Drive teaching quality by developing standardized lesson plans, adhering to awarding bodies standards, and ensuring curriculum alignment with the curriculum manager. Implement health and safety, asset management, and stock control protocols while delivering on a rota as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead. This role requires a minimum of one day per week teaching delivery and involves managing decisions across all hubs as part of the Education and Skills Leadership Team.

Required Qualifications

  • Hold a relevant L3 qualification (ONC or equivalent)
  • Have relevant industrial experience for workshop based vocations – such as wet trades, motor vehicle, engineering, construction
  • Educated to degree level or can demonstrate relevant equivalent experience
  • Teaching qualification or relevant equivalent qualification with teaching experience
  • Excellent knowledge and practical experience of managing or leading a delivery area within the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework (EIF)
  • DSL Level 3 trained or willingness to undertake, with substantial experience of dealing with complex cases
  • Demonstrable evidence of leadership and management development or skills
  • Significant experience of delivering programmes to support those on EHC Plans
  • An organised individual who can plan and monitor a varied workload
  • Strong people skills which encourages others to work collaboratively
  • Strong literacy skills with the ability to write clearly and effectively
  • A flexible approach to work and the ability to meet challenges and adapt to change
  • Ability to deal with challenging behaviour at times
  • Being self-motivated, resilient, with a drive and determination to achieve results
  • General awareness of health and safety and building management
  • Strong IT skills, across multiple platforms, with an in-depth knowledge of office tools, with an eye for detail that's second to none
  • Strong communicator with excellent customer service experience and skills
  • Ability to work as a team, under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
  • A good understanding of the barriers faced by people, and the solutions that may be able to benefit them
  • Be able to develop and implement a strategic plan
  • Capable of developing systems to improve the operational elements of the Workshops
  • Have enough understanding of the wide variety of curriculum areas to ensure that all areas are developed equally
  • Qualified IQA Level 4, or working towards
  • Qualified Assessor for example Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement or willingness to undertake
  • MHFA
  • Working with awarding bodies to develop qualifications to meet learner needs
  • IOSHH or equivalent qualification and experience in management of health and safety and site based delivery
  • This role acts as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, and as part of a team delivers on a rota to own safeguarding across education and skills
  • It has a minimum requirement of delivering teaching a minimum of one day per week
  • Enhanced DBS check
  • Required to complete a self declaration form at interview stage
  • Exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act
  • Not barred from regulated activity
