Job Summary
Data Engineer to support migration from Pentaho to dbt by rewriting, modeling, and modernizing existing data transformations; build, maintain, and optimize SQL-based ELT pipelines; work with BigQuery in a cloud-native environment; collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business teams. Requires 3+ years in data engineering, strong SQL, ETL/ELT experience, and willingness to learn dbt. Preferred: BigQuery, dbt Core/Cloud, Pentaho experience, cloud data architecture knowledge. Remote work option available; international projects and travel.
Required Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience as Data Engineer or similar role
- Strong experience in SQL
- Experience working with data pipelines or ETL/ELT workflows
- Ability to understand and improve existing data models and logic
- Willingness to learn dbt and modern ELT practices if not already familiar
- Experience with Google BigQuery
- Hands-on dbt experience (dbt Core or dbt Cloud)
- Experience with Pentaho (helpful but not required)
- Knowledge of cloud-based data architecture and version-controlled development
