Job Summary
Facilitate and schedule care, feeding, and transportation for laboratory animal programs while overseeing health monitoring and husbandry services. Inspect animal rooms for sanitation and equipment compliance with federal, state, and university regulations, ensuring AAALAC accreditation standards are met. Manage hazardous waste disposal, coordinate facility maintenance, and oversee inventory, billing, and census management. Provide training to staff, review researcher service requests, and participate in an on-call rotation. This role supports the Laboratory Animal Medical Services department at the University of Cincinnati, ensuring high-quality, compliant operations across multiple research facilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field
- Certification by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS)
- Three (3) years in laboratory animal science
- One (1) year supervision
- Demonstrated reliability, including consistent attendance and dependability
- Strong verbal and written communication, customer service, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and take initiative in a fast-paced environment
- Advanced levels of AALAS certification such as LATg or CMAR

Desired Qualifications
