Job Summary
Teach undergraduate Chemistry and Biochemistry courses and laboratories while actively participating in curriculum development, assessment, and scholarship. Advise students, serve on university committees, and contribute to accreditation processes and community service. Maintain current industry practices, establish professional society memberships, and develop a professional development plan demonstrating a trajectory for life-long learning. Remain current in research, publishing, and grant writing while working full-time hours with occasional night and weekend availability. Support the Catholic and Marianist identity of the University and serve Native Hawaiian and Pacific Island students.
Required Qualifications
- A Ph.D. from a regionally accredited institution in Chemistry or Biochemistry
- A Masters Degree from a regionally accredited institution in Chemistry or Biochemistry
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant teaching and/or research experience in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a combination thereof
- Experience teaching General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry and/or Physical Chemistry
- Proficient in the use of technology to support both in-class and online learning environments
- Chemistry or biochemistry and scientific skills relevant to their area of expertise
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and work with individuals at all levels of the university
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google applications or related software, learning management systems (e.g. Canvas), and other programs related to teaching, learning, advising, and assessment (e.g. Self Service, Stellic, Weave)
- Ability to prioritize work and resources
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Attention to detail with a focus on thoroughness and quality
- High integrity and ethical standards
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds
- Must have finger dexterity
- Must be willing and able to work occasional nights and weekends and a varying schedule
