Job Summary
Senior Virtual Simulation Software Engineer responsible for designing and implementing real-time, pilot-in-the-loop simulation software for next-gen aircraft concepts. Responsibilities include creating/adapting simulation frameworks (airframe, kinematics, sensors, weapons, C2, threat models), translating aircraft/weapon physics with domain SMEs into high-fidelity real-time models, integrating visualization GUIs, and supporting environment modeling and trade studies to inform system architectures. Requires strong C++ (with Java/Python/C# as options), collaboration in a small interdisciplinary team, readiness for 10% travel, and an active Top Secret clearance with SAP eligibility. Location: Melbourne, FL; relocation may be available; 9/80 schedule noted.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor5s degree in a STEM field OR a Master5s degree in a STEM field OR a PhD with years of experience
- Active US Government Top Secret clearance (and ability to obtain SAP clearance)
- Experience with software development using C++ (preferred), C#, Java or other OO language
- 8+ years of relevant military/professional experience OR 6+ years with a Master's OR 4+ years with a PhD
- Ability to design and implement real-time, pilot-in-the-loop simulation software
- Experience with simulation frameworks/modules (airframe, kinematics, sensors, weapons, C2, threat models)
- Ability to translate physics into real-time models and integrate into simulations
- Experience with visualization tools and GUIs
- Strong collaboration with domain SMEs and cross-disciplinary teams
- Willingness to travel (10% of time)
