Job Summary
Lead the integration of plumbing code and field installation practices into BIM/VDC workflows, ensuring virtual models accurately reflect real-world conditions. Act as the field authority within the BIM/VDC team by coordinating meetings, conducting field walks, and reviewing shop drawings for compliance. Oversee model QA/QC to identify conflicts and constructability concerns, while mentoring modelers on installation sequencing and guiding them on field realities. Collaborate with project teams to synchronize virtual deliverables with field schedules and make site visits to review drawings with installation crews. This role bridges construction field operations and virtual design to drive constructability and efficiency across all phases of plumbing installation.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in plumbing installation in a field or superintendent role
- Experience collaborating with BIM/VDC teams or exposure to 3D modeling platforms (e.g., Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD MEP)
- Strong understanding of plumbing specifications, contract documents, and plumbing code
- Ability to read and interpret detailed construction drawings and plumbing piping isometrics
- Exceptional communication and coordination skills to bridge field and virtual workflows
- Comfortable in construction site environments and office-based model review settings
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to installation quality and accuracy
- The ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis
- The ability to perform tasks involving physical labor, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials, tools, or equipment
Desired Qualifications
- Fabrication and layout experience
- Experience with ACC, Bluebeam, or similar platforms
- Experience in plumbing coordination and preconstruction planning
- Familiarity with prefabrication processes and modular plumbing piping systems
- Certifications in sheet metal duct, pipefitting, plumbing, or relevant trades
