Job Summary
Conduct physical exams, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop treatment plans for older adult patients with acute and chronic illnesses under physician supervision. Assess, diagnose, and manage conditions such as diabetes, COPD, and CHF while engaging with hospitalists for inpatient patients. Maintain complete EMR records within 48 hours of visits, ensure physician coverage every other visit, and adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, and accreditation compliance. Interpret blood gases, radiology, and EKG results in collaboration with supervising physicians. Handle emergency situations calmly, manage patient complaints through proper chain of command, and provide education to promote health and reduce risk factors.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Certified as a nurse practitioner with current state licensure
- At least 1 year of previous professional nursing experience with 1-3 years experience as a practicing as a primary care nurse practitioner
- Prior experience working in an electronic medical records system
- ACLS/BLS certification required as mandated by state
- Must demonstrate knowledge of the rationale of appropriate patient care
- Demonstrate ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from a various group of people
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Excellent written and verbal communication, teaching ability, and good telephone skills
- Working knowledge with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for real-time collaboration
- Full range of body motion, including handling and transferring patients, manual and finger dexterity; including eye-hand coordination
- Requires standing, walking, pushing, bending, kneeling, and reaching at arm's length and overhead in a clinic for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to lift and move patients and medical equipment as needed
- Requires ability to lift/carry up to 15 lbs
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle and have own means of transportation
