Vietnamese Translator, DOJ LSS

Job Summary
Provide translation, interpretation, and transcription for DOJ-related materials including legal, medical, financial, and technical content across documents and multimedia. Maintain confidentiality for sensitive materials, utilize CAT tools (SDL Trados Studio), and ensure accurate, tone-preserving translation of terminology across English and a foreign language. Possess experience with law enforcement or legal departments, meet ILR/translation testing standards, and hold U.S. citizenship with active security clearance. Remote work is available with coverage for National Capital Region and CONUS locations; travel may be required. The role emphasizes high accuracy, ethical standards, and the ability to handle sensitive information.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years of translation experience
- ILR 3 minimum or equivalent on language/translation tests
- Must have lived in the U.S. for 3 of the last 5 years (not necessarily consecutive)
- At least 1 year of experience with a law enforcement and/or legal department
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Proficient in English and target language vocabulary in formal, legal, diplomatic, consultative, and casual contexts
- Knowledge of specialized vocabulary in English and foreign language related to government missions
- Fluent writing in native language with professional command of non-native language
- Translate accurately without changes, omissions, or additions; preserve tone and register
- Adhere to linguist ethics
- Proficient with CAT tools (SDL Trados Studio)
- Active Public Trust or higher security clearance
- Location: Remote / National Capitol Region / Various CONUS Locations
- Willingness to travel; some travel may be required
