Job Summary
Vietnamese Transcriber for DOJ LSS to provide translation, interpretation, transcription and linguistic support on sensitive legal materials; requires ILR 3, U.S. residency, U.S. citizen, 3 years transcription experience, CAT tools proficiency including SDL Trados Studio, and a valid security clearance; remote opportunities with National Capital Region or CONUS locations; travel may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in language transcription
- Qualifying ILR level 3 minimum or equivalent in listening, comprehension, and writing on language/translation tests
- Must have lived 3 of the last 5 years in the U.S.
- Must have at least 1 year of experience working with a law enforcement and/or legal department
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Bilingual vocabulary in formal, legal, diplomatic, consultative, and casual modes of communication in various contexts
- Know specialized vocabulary in English and the foreign language related to government roles and missions
- Fluent in English and foreign language writing without altering meaning
- Translate accurately without changes, omissions, or additions
- Preserve tone and register of source materials
- Abide by linguist ethics
- Proficient in Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools, SDL Trados Studio
- Clearance: Active Public Trust or higher security clearance
- Location: Remote / National Capitol Region / Various CONUS Locations
- Travel: Some travel may be required
