Video Producer

$140,000–$200,000 year

HybridSan Francisco, California, United States

Full TimeSmall

Job Summary

Own PlanetScale's video program across customer stories, product launches, and social formats, shaping raw technical material into narrative-driven content. Set the creative bar for story, pacing, and visuals, then operate as a hands-on individual contributor to film on location, direct interviews, and manage the full production pipeline from assembly to final delivery. Edit long-form YouTube videos, launch assets, and short-form clips while building a lean workflow that balances speed with high-quality output. Travel for shoots at events and customer sites, and work remotely from our San Francisco Bay Area office as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • A strong portfolio showing range across polished narrative work, quick-turn edits, social cuts, and/or short-form video
  • Demonstrated experience filming, directing, and editing projects end to end as an individual contributor
  • Strong editing skills in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut, or equivalent
  • Experience shooting on location, including interviews, with the ability to handle your own lighting and audio
  • Motion graphics and animation ability, with good judgment for when those tools make the story clearer or the video stronger
  • Strong project management skills, including planning shoots, managing footage, organizing feedback, and delivering on deadlines
  • Willingness and ability to travel for shoots at events and customer sites
  • This role requires you to be based in the San Francisco Bay Area
  • You may work remotely at times, but you will be expected to work from our San Francisco office when needed for filming, production, and other in-person work

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in developer tools, infrastructure, databases, or another engineering-focused space
  • Experience producing content for YouTube, social, or a public creative channel where you developed a strong sense of audience and format
  • Experience filming and interviewing executives, engineers, customers, or technical subject-matter experts
  • 3D or advanced animation ability in Blender, After Effects, or similar
  • Comfort using AI tools across the creative and production workflow, and curiosity about what they make newly possible
