Job Summary
Review code from other engineers to ensure quality expectations are met, then develop systems and utilities for custom proprietary engines. Integrate rendering engines or perform architectural changes to accommodate new features while maintaining a clean, extensible codebase. Manage save data, job systems, memory management, or other development support features. Design, test, and debug code independently, breaking down large features into engineering tasks. Mentor engineers on best practices, estimate tasks, and raise blockers to the project lead. Test and document solutions, uphold software engineering best practices, and take ownership of large, mission-critical code areas. Coordinate with non-engineering teams and propose architecture solutions for large features.
Required Qualifications
- Reside in Japan during employment
- University degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience (Japan-based candidates)
- 2+ years of professional experience developing custom engine (Japan-based candidates)
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience (overseas-based candidates)
- 5+ years of professional experience developing custom engine (overseas-based candidates)
- Solid software engineering abilities
- Strong experience with C++
- Proficiency in C# (WPF)
- Comfortable with source code management systems (Git, SVN, Perforce, etc.)
- At least conversational Japanese proficiency - JLPT N3 or above
- English proficiency (ability to read, write, and discuss technical matters)
- Ability to write clean, readable, performant code
- Design the architecture around code
- Excellent debugging and optimization skills
- Knowledge of existing optimization techniques
- Focus on performance and performance analysis
- Strong math skills
- Willingness to work as part of a team and contribute to technical discussions
- Eager to both provide and receive constructive feedback for continual growth
