Job Summary
Provide British Sign Language and English interpreting in face-to-face and remote settings, including video relay services and telephone calls for deaf and hearing individuals. Interpret brief written and signed documents as required, and work alongside Registered Deaf Relay Intralingual Interpreters when requested. Maintain confidentiality of all participants, report safeguarding concerns or difficulties to service leads, and adhere to the Code of Conduct. Travel to bookings within the local area and further afield by agreement, attend training and supervision, and remain connected with colleagues via Teams.
Required Qualifications
- Registered with the NRCPD, RBSLI, or SRLPDC as a Registered Qualified Sign Language Interpreter
- Sound knowledge of issues relating to the Deaf community
- Clear understanding of the role of a BSL/English Interpreter
- Flexibility in your approach to work
- Willingness to travel around the designated area for community assignments
Desired Qualifications
- Three years post qualification experience in a range of domains
- Experience in video interpreting
- Technology comfortable
- Own car and valid driving license
- Other Sign Language skills
