Job Summary
Vice Principal and BST (DJCWA) at Dr. JC Wickwire Academy leads instructional and operational functions, partnering with the Principal to foster an inclusive, high-performing learning environment for students and staff. The role emphasizes strategic leadership in teaching and learning, staff development, community engagement, and day-to-day school management aligned with provincial policies and priorities. The successful candidate will hold Nova Scotia Teacher Certification, multiple Master’s-level qualifications related to instructional leadership or inclusive education, and specialized program credentials (e.g., Aspiring School Administrators/NSELC ALP). They should have substantial experience with diverse learners (PP-5) and evidence-based practices such as MTSS, UDL, CRP, ASD interventions, and related supports, plus demonstrated capacity for collaboration within Student Planning Teams and Teaching Support Teams. The posting requires security checks (Child Abuse Registry and Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector Checks) and an online application with current resume and references.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Nova Scotia Teacher Certification
- Masters degree directly related to the position (ILA Diploma in Instructional Leadership, Leadership, OR Educational Administration)
- Masters in Inclusive Education and/or Special Education or Acadia Masters in Curriculum with focus on UDL, Inclusive Education or supporting learners with diverse needs and exceptionalities
- Completion of the SSRCE Aspiring School Administrators Program, NSELC ALP Program or equivalent
- Administrative Experience PP-5
- Teaching Experience P-5
