Vice President Tax Management & Compliance

Job Summary
Operate as a technical resource to business and corporate units by advising on federal and state employment tax matters, retirement benefit reporting, and international tax compliance. Manage the completion of annual Form 720, excise tax filings, and informational tax forms while resolving compliance inquiries from Treasury and state authorities. Lead the development of tax policies, conduct annual enterprise tax risk assessments, and mentor a high-performing tax team. Collaborate with external advisors to mitigate operational risks and ensure timely tax deposits. Work in a hybrid environment, reporting to the VP and SVP of Tax Management & Compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Significant involvement with large tax compliance engagements for complex organizations at a major public accounting firm
- Experience with tax issues relating to employee benefit plans
- Experience with international individual and corporate taxation
- Experience with tax issues affecting non-profit organizations
- Experience with compliance issues relating to payroll and unclaimed property
- Experience performing as a subject matter expert for multiple corporate departments (finance, legal, investments, human resources, compliance, etc.) as well as managing relationships with external tax advisors
- Ability to self-manage
- Superior organizational skills
- Experienced in both tax preparation and tax review
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills - ability to effectively communicate with senior management as well as with external counsels, advisors and consultants
- Strong critical/analytical thinking and problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze, interpret & make sound business decisions
- Strong people management skills – needs to effectively coach and develop employees
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint) applications
- BA\BS in Accounting or related field
- CPA
- Minimum of 15+ years of tax experience with a major public accounting firm or corporate tax department
- Managerial or Team Lead experience
- Currently, hybrid work environment, which requires working in CPG's office Tuesdays through Thursdays and flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays
