Job Summary
Vice President, Philanthropy & Engagement is an executive leader responsible for growing revenue and visibility through integrated fundraising, communications, and community engagement strategies. The role oversees a multi-year philanthropic program (individuals, corporations, foundations, events) aiming to generate a minimum of six-figure gifts and six-figure multi-year commitments, build donor portfolios, advance planned giving, and expand donor-advised-fund engagement. Responsibilities include strategic leadership across fundraising, marketing/communications, and community engagement; managing high-value donor relationships; ensuring governance and CRA compliance; guiding data-driven fundraising via CRM and analytics; leading brand and communications to elevate the organization; and building partnerships with internal teams, board, donors, and community leaders. The position also requires people leadership over multiple teams, fostering an inclusive, equity-aligned culture and contributing as part of the executive team. The role is based primarily in-office with some flexibility for remote work in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and reports to the CEO.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- CFRE designation achieved or in progress required
- 8 – 10 years of progressive leadership experience in philanthropy with 3+ years at Senior Director or VP level
- Proven ability to secure 6+ figure gifts
- Experience leading large campaigns and donor stewardship
- Strong fundraising, donor engagement, and communications experience
- Experience in leading philanthropy teams and collaborating with marketing
