Job Summary
Contribute to the development and execution of the organization's strategic plan while overseeing the strategic planning process. Lead and oversee a culture of patient safety through training, transparency, and continuous improvement, serving as the OPTN designated Patient Safety Officer with direct reporting responsibilities to the Compliance Committee. Monitor and oversee investigations of alleged patient safety events in real time, ensuring 24/7/365 coverage of patient safety reporting responsibilities. Serve as the first point of contact for donor families, transplant patients, OPTN, hospital partners, HRSA, and transplant partners regarding potential safety concerns or complaints. Oversee root cause analyses, correction actions, and the implementation of process changes to affect growth in the mission. Lead organizational response to third-party audits and surveys, ensuring the overall quality of services provided.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in a science related field
- six years' experience in management or leadership role
- equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience leading teams to the successful achievement of the organization's mission
- Experience contributing to the development of the organization, division, or department strategy
- Experience providing oversight, both direct and indirect, to multidisciplinary teams of varying sizes
- eight years clinical experience in all phases of the organ/tissue donation process and organ preservation
- Ability to oversee a successful team
- Ability to develop strategy and implement supporting initiatives
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple and competing priorities
- Understanding of regulations and best practices related to areas of responsibility
- Understanding of broad donation issues associated with a large Designated Service Area (DSA)
- Written and verbal fluency in English
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent interpersonal skills, specifically in challenging situations
- Excellent presentation skills to audiences of varying backgrounds and sizes
- Ability to exercise initiative, strategic and critical thinking, and problem-solving
- Ability to provide mentorship to direct and indirect reports, and staff from across the organization as appropriate
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook and Teams
