Job Summary
Senior hands-on engineer to own complex finance-domain data and automation problems in Tokyo. You will design, build, and productionize AI-enabled solutions to streamline financial controllers’ workflows, improve testing confidence and deployment quality, and enhance engineering productivity. The role spans backend and data-intensive systems (Java/Scala/Python, SQL, ETL, REST/services) with a focus on accounting concepts and Finance reporting platforms; collaboration with product management and stakeholders to translate features into technical designs; mentoring junior engineers; and driving improvements across pipelines, orchestration, and DevOps capabilities. The ideal candidate thrives in a regulated, cross-regional environment and is comfortable working across teams in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Mumbai, London, Montreal, and New York.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of software engineering experience
- backend development experience in Java, Scala, or Python
- Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases (Snowflake, Teradata, Sybase, or DB2)
- Strong Linux proficiency
- Strong analytical skills and architectural/data problem-solving
- Excellent written and verbal communication across engineering, product, and business stakeholders
- Experience with finance technology, accounting-related systems, or regulated enterprise environments (preferred)
- Experience contributing to full-stack applications (preferred)
- Exposure to AI or LLM-enabled solutions in software delivery or developer productivity (preferred)
- ETL orchestration and large-scale data processing experience (preferred)
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and drive delivery across global teams
- Ability to design and implement robust solutions from design through production
