Job Summary
Vice President of Medical Affairs will provide senior physician leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for medical staff affairs and clinical performance across the academic medical center and its hospital-based services. He/she will partner with physician, nursing, operational, financial, and academic leaders to advance clinical quality, safety, engagement, and alignment between clinical care, education, and research, while ensuring regulatory readiness and governance. The role involves guiding governance, credentialing, professional practice standards, and the integration of clinical care with institutional strategy, and acting as a key ambassador to internal and external stakeholders. Candidates should be an accomplished physician executive capable of leading through influence within a matrixed academic health system and possess strong skills in governance, physician engagement, change management, and strategic partnership. The position is 0.8 FTE (32 hours/week) with compensation aligned to the CSU plan, and requires a physician licensed in Minnesota who is board certified, MD/DO, with extensive leadership experience.
Required Qualifications
- Ten or more years of progressive leadership experience in a complex health system or hospital (required)
- A successful track record of leading and supportive enterprise-wide improvement initiatives (required)
- Track record of effective physician engagement (required)
- Medical Degree (M.D. or D.O.) (required)
- Licenses/Certification: Licensed physician in the State of Minnesota (required)
- Board certified in a medical specialty (required)
